Mazinga is a climbing training planning, scheduling and logging tool operated by Mazinga Climbing Ltd. Climbing and physical training can involve risks of injury. These risks may arise from activities including climbing, finger-strength training, strength training, conditioning, mobility work, flexibility exercises and other forms of physical exercise.
By using Mazinga for training activities, you acknowledge that you are responsible for deciding whether a particular exercise, workout, training plan, load or activity is appropriate for you.
Mazinga is designed to help you organise exercises and workouts, create and follow training plans, schedule training sessions, record completed training, use training timers, record sets, repetitions, duration, weight, intensity and climbing grades, record RPE, and review your training history and analytics.
Mazinga does not directly supervise you while you train. The fact that an exercise, workout, training plan or other item appears in Mazinga does not mean that it is suitable for you personally. You remain responsible for deciding what training you perform and how you perform it.
Mazinga is not a medical service and does not provide medical diagnosis, treatment or rehabilitation advice. Information provided through Mazinga should not be relied upon as a substitute for advice from an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.
Mazinga cannot determine through ordinary use of the application whether you have an injury or medical condition, are sufficiently recovered to train, are physically capable of performing a particular exercise, should increase or decrease your training load, or require medical assessment or treatment.
If you have an injury, ongoing pain, a medical condition, unexplained symptoms or concerns about whether training is appropriate for you, consider obtaining appropriate professional advice before undertaking the relevant activity.
Mazinga may provide exercises, workouts, templates, instructions, technique cues, safety notes, progressions, regressions and other general training information. This information is not a personalised assessment by a climbing coach, strength and conditioning professional, physiotherapist or other qualified professional.
Mazinga does not ordinarily know all of the factors that may affect the suitability of training for you, such as your climbing experience, training age, current strength, technique, previous injuries, current health, recovery status, fatigue, mobility, equipment, training environment, or other physical circumstances. Where you are unsure how to perform an exercise safely or whether a training programme is appropriate for you, consider seeking guidance from an appropriately qualified professional.
You should use reasonable judgement before and during each training session. Before beginning training, consider whether you are physically and mentally prepared to perform the planned activity. Factors such as fatigue, illness, injury, insufficient recovery, poor technique or inappropriate loading can affect your ability to train safely. You should not feel obliged to complete an exercise or workout simply because it is scheduled in Mazinga. A planned session can be changed, reduced, postponed or stopped when appropriate.
Pain should not be ignored simply because an exercise or workout is part of your Mazinga training plan. If you experience pain or other symptoms that concern you during an activity, stop or modify the activity as appropriate and consider seeking professional advice. Seek appropriate medical attention where symptoms are severe, sudden, unusual or otherwise cause concern.
Where Mazinga provides instructions, technique cues, safety notes, progressions or regressions, these are intended as general guidance. Written instructions, images or videos cannot show every possible variation in body position, technique, equipment, anatomy, training environment, or individual ability. You are responsible for ensuring that you understand how to perform an exercise before attempting it.
If you cannot confidently perform an exercise safely, consider using an appropriate regression, reducing the load or intensity, or seeking qualified instruction. Do not attempt an exercise merely because it appears within a Mazinga workout or training plan.
Some climbing training places substantial loads on the fingers, hands, wrists, elbows, shoulders and other parts of the body. Exercises involving hangboards, fingerboards, small edges, additional weight, reduced assistance, dynamic movement or high-intensity climbing may be particularly demanding. You should select loads, grip positions, assistance levels, durations, repetitions and training volumes that are appropriate for your own ability and condition. Do not assume that values used by another climber, included in a template, or previously used by you are automatically appropriate for your current session.
Mazinga may allow you to schedule or record external weight, added weight, exercise duration, sets and repetitions, climbing grade, intensity, and other training parameters. These values are organisational and logging information. Mazinga does not guarantee that a particular weight, intensity, volume or progression is safe or suitable for you. You are responsible for selecting appropriate training loads. Where appropriate, begin conservatively and adjust training based on your experience, technique, condition and any relevant professional guidance.
Mazinga allows training plans and plan templates to organise training over multiple days and weeks. A scheduled training plan does not guarantee that the planned volume, frequency, intensity or recovery period remains appropriate for you throughout the plan. Your circumstances may change after a plan is created. You should consider adjusting training when necessary because of factors such as fatigue, illness, pain, injury, reduced recovery, changes in climbing volume, other physical activity, or changes in your available training time. Completing a plan exactly as originally scheduled is not more important than training safely.
Mazinga provides timers that may be used during exercises, repetitions, sets, rest periods and other training activities. Timers are organisational aids only. A timer reaching the end of a work or rest period does not mean that you must immediately start another repetition or set, you have recovered sufficiently, it is safe for you to continue, your technique remains appropriate, or a particular training duration is suitable for you. You should stop, pause or extend a rest period whenever appropriate. Do not allow attention to a timer, screen, notification or sound to distract you from maintaining safe technique or awareness of your surroundings.
You are responsible for checking that the equipment you use is suitable, correctly installed and in an appropriate condition for the activity. Depending on the training you perform, this may include climbing walls, holds, hangboards or fingerboards, pull-up bars, weights, resistance equipment, benches, mats, harnesses, ropes, carabiners, and other climbing or training equipment. Follow the equipment manufacturer's instructions and any relevant facility rules. Do not rely on Mazinga as confirmation that equipment has been correctly installed, maintained or configured.
You are responsible for choosing an appropriate environment in which to perform training. Consider matters such as sufficient space, stable equipment, appropriate flooring or landing protection, surrounding obstacles, other people nearby, safe equipment setup, and any rules imposed by the climbing wall, gym or other facility. Do not interact with Mazinga in a way that creates a distraction during an activity where attention is required for safety.
Where Mazinga is used to plan or record climbing sessions, Mazinga does not replace the safety systems, supervision, rules or procedures of the climbing facility or environment in which you climb. You are responsible for following appropriate climbing safety practices and the rules of the facility or location you use. Mazinga does not inspect climbing walls, outdoor climbing locations, anchors, ropes, harnesses, protection, belay systems, holds, or other climbing equipment. Do not rely on the application as evidence that a climbing activity or environment is safe.
Mazinga allows users to create private exercises, workouts and training plans. These items are created by the user and are not necessarily reviewed, approved or recommended by Mazinga. If you create your own exercises, workouts or plans, you are responsible for the training choices you make.
Mazinga may provide a library of exercises, workouts and training templates. The library is intended to provide useful and accurate training information, but inclusion in the library does not constitute a guarantee that an exercise or programme is appropriate for every climber, is appropriate for you, will produce a particular result, will prevent injury, is suitable while injured, or should be performed without modification. Exercise information should be considered in the context of your own ability and circumstances.
Where an exercise includes a suggested progression or regression, these are general training options rather than instructions that you must follow. A progression should not be interpreted as automatically suitable simply because you can complete the previous exercise. Choose the variation that is appropriate for your current ability and condition.
Training responses differ between individuals. Mazinga does not guarantee that using the service, following a training plan or performing any particular exercise will improve your climbing grade, increase your strength or endurance, improve your flexibility or mobility, improve your climbing performance, prevent injury, rehabilitate an existing injury, or achieve any particular training result. Past performance recorded in Mazinga does not guarantee future performance.
Mazinga may display information calculated from your training logs, such as completed training time, exercise counts and category breakdowns. These analytics are intended to help you review information that has been recorded in the application. They are not medical measurements or assessments of recovery, injury risk, health, readiness to train, or physical capacity. Do not rely solely on Mazinga analytics when deciding whether it is safe or appropriate to train.
You should always retain the ability to stop, modify or postpone a planned activity. Do not continue an activity solely because Mazinga says it is scheduled, a timer is still running, a workout is incomplete, a training plan specifies a particular number of sets or repetitions, you previously completed the same activity, or you want the session to appear complete in your training history. Your safety takes priority over completing a digital training record.
If you or someone with you experiences a medical emergency during training, call the emergency services immediately. Do not delay seeking emergency assistance in order to use Mazinga or record training data. Follow the safety procedures of the climbing wall, gym or other facility where relevant.
