Mazinga

Terms of Use

Version 1.1Effective: 27 August 2026

1. About these Terms

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Mazinga, a climbing training planning and logging service operated by Mazinga Climbing Ltd ("Mazinga", "we", "us" or "our").

Our details are:

Mazinga Climbing Ltd

Company number: 17388779

Registered office: 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, United Kingdom, WC2H 9JQ

Contact email: support@mazinga.app

By creating a Mazinga account, you agree to these Terms.

You should read these Terms before creating an account. If you do not agree to them, you must not create or use a Mazinga account.

Our Privacy Notice explains how we process personal information and is separate from these Terms.

Our Training & Safety Disclaimer contains important information about climbing, exercise and training risks and forms part of your agreement with us when using Mazinga for training activities.

2. What Mazinga is

Mazinga is a digital tool designed to help climbers organise, plan, schedule, record and review their training.

Depending on the features available to you, Mazinga may allow you to:

  • create training plans;
  • schedule exercises and workouts;
  • create private exercises, workouts and plan templates;
  • use exercises, workouts and templates from the Mazinga library;
  • record completed training;
  • record sets, repetitions, duration, weight, climbing grade, intensity and other training information;
  • optionally record RPE;
  • create and maintain private journal entries;
  • review training history and analytics calculated from your Mazinga records;
  • use exercise timers and stopwatches;
  • request an export of supported account information and download it in a structured format;
  • import compatible personal exercises, workouts or plan templates from supported JSON files;
  • upload permitted images;
  • save account and training preferences; and
  • report problems or inappropriate content.

Mazinga is intended to support your own training organisation and record keeping.

Mazinga is not a medical service, healthcare service or substitute for professional coaching or medical advice.

3. Who may use Mazinga

You must be at least 18 years old to create a Mazinga account.

By creating an account, you confirm that:

  • you are at least 18 years old;
  • you have legal capacity to enter into these Terms; and
  • the information you provide to us is accurate to the best of your knowledge.

Mazinga is currently intended primarily for individual climbers using the service for personal purposes.

If you use Mazinga on behalf of a business, organisation, coaching service or other commercial operation, additional or different terms may be required.

4. Creating and protecting your account

You may create an account using a supported authentication method, which may include email and password or a third-party authentication provider such as Google.

You are responsible for taking reasonable steps to keep your account secure.

You must:

  • provide accurate account information;
  • use a strong password where password authentication is used;
  • keep your login credentials confidential;
  • not knowingly allow another person to use your account as their own;
  • notify us if you reasonably believe your account has been compromised; and
  • keep access to your associated email account secure.

You are responsible for activity carried out through your account where that activity results from your failure to take reasonable steps to protect your credentials.

We may require additional authentication before allowing security-sensitive actions such as account deletion or certain account changes.

5. Your training decisions remain your responsibility

Mazinga helps you organise and record training. It does not determine whether a particular exercise, workout, training plan, intensity, load, climbing grade or training volume is appropriate for you.

You are responsible for deciding whether to undertake a training activity.

Before performing an exercise or training programme, you should consider your:

  • experience;
  • current physical condition;
  • previous injuries;
  • training history;
  • equipment;
  • environment;
  • technique; and
  • any relevant advice you have received from appropriately qualified professionals.

You should not continue an activity if you believe it is unsafe for you.

If you experience pain, unusual symptoms or are concerned about an injury or medical condition, you should seek appropriate advice from a qualified healthcare professional.

Information displayed in Mazinga is provided for general training and organisational purposes and should not be treated as a diagnosis, medical assessment or personalised medical recommendation.

Further information is provided in our Training & Safety Disclaimer.

6. Exercise and training library content

Mazinga may provide a global library containing exercises, workouts and training templates.

Library content is intended to provide general training information and examples.

Different climbers have different abilities, training histories, physical characteristics and injury risks. An exercise or training method being included in the Mazinga library does not mean that it is suitable for every user.

You remain responsible for deciding whether library content is appropriate for you.

Where reasonable, we aim to maintain and improve the accuracy and quality of Mazinga's library content. However, training knowledge and practices may change over time, and no exercise description can account for every user's individual circumstances.

You should use appropriate judgement and seek qualified advice where necessary.

7. Your content

Mazinga allows you to create or upload information such as:

  • private exercises;
  • workouts;
  • training plans;
  • templates;
  • private journal entries;
  • exercise images;
  • profile images;
  • training notes; and
  • other information supported by the service.

We refer to this as User Content.

Ownership

You retain ownership of the intellectual property rights you already have in User Content that you create.

These Terms do not transfer ownership of your private User Content to Mazinga.

Permission to operate the service

You give Mazinga a limited permission to host, store, copy, process, display and otherwise technically use your User Content only to the extent reasonably necessary to:

  • provide Mazinga to you;
  • store and retrieve your information;
  • display your content within your account;
  • operate backups;
  • provide requested functionality;
  • protect the service;
  • investigate reports or technical problems; and
  • comply with legal obligations.

This permission lasts only for as long as reasonably necessary for those purposes.

It does not give Mazinga permission to sell your private training content or private journal entries or use them for unrelated advertising.

Content you provide must be lawful

You must not upload or create content that:

  • you do not have the right to use;
  • infringes another person's intellectual-property rights;
  • is unlawful;
  • contains malicious software or harmful code;
  • is intended to compromise or interfere with Mazinga;
  • is fraudulent or deliberately misleading in a harmful way; or
  • otherwise breaches these Terms.

You are responsible for ensuring that you have appropriate rights to images, text or other material you upload.

8. Private and global content

Mazinga distinguishes between private user content and content made available through the global Mazinga library.

Your private exercises, workouts, plans, journal entries and training information are intended to remain associated with your account and are not made available to other ordinary Mazinga users merely because you created them.

Global library content may be visible to all Mazinga users.

Standard user accounts cannot publish private exercises, workouts or templates directly into the global library unless Mazinga introduces a specific publishing or submission process.

If we introduce community submissions or a process allowing users to submit material for publication in the global library, we will explain any additional licence or moderation terms before that content is submitted.

9. Duplicating library content

Mazinga may allow you to create a private copy of an exercise, workout or template from the global library.

A duplicated item may be modified and stored within your account for personal use through Mazinga.

Duplicating an item does not transfer ownership of Mazinga's underlying intellectual property or give you permission to commercially redistribute Mazinga library content outside the service unless we separately give you that permission.

10. Mazinga intellectual property

Except for User Content and third-party material, Mazinga and its associated intellectual property belong to Mazinga Climbing Ltd or our licensors.

This includes, where applicable:

  • the Mazinga name and branding;
  • application design;
  • software;
  • source code;
  • database structures;
  • original written content;
  • original exercise-library content;
  • graphics and design elements; and
  • other materials created by or for Mazinga.

You may use Mazinga and its content for your personal use in accordance with these Terms.

Unless we give you permission, you must not:

  • reproduce substantial parts of Mazinga for commercial purposes;
  • sell or commercially redistribute Mazinga library content;
  • copy Mazinga's software or source code;
  • attempt to obtain source code except where the law expressly permits this;
  • use Mazinga branding in a way that suggests an affiliation or endorsement that does not exist; or
  • create a competing database by systematically extracting Mazinga library content.

Nothing in these Terms prevents you from using information that belongs to you or exercising rights that the law gives you.

11. Acceptable use

You must use Mazinga lawfully and reasonably.

You must not:

  • attempt to access another user's private information;
  • attempt to bypass account or database access controls;
  • probe, scan or test Mazinga for vulnerabilities without our prior permission, except where protected by applicable law;
  • attempt to obtain administrative privileges without authorisation;
  • interfere with the normal operation of the service;
  • deliberately overload or disrupt Mazinga;
  • use automated tools to scrape substantial parts of the service without permission;
  • circumvent rate limits, security controls or bot protection;
  • upload malicious files or code;
  • impersonate another person;
  • use Mazinga to facilitate fraud or unlawful conduct;
  • submit deliberately false abuse reports in order to harass another person; or
  • encourage another person to do any of these things.

Good-faith security reports are welcome and should be submitted through the app's reporting feature or emailing reports@mazinga.app.

12. Reports and moderation

Mazinga may provide tools allowing users to report problems, safety concerns, incorrect information, intellectual-property issues, inappropriate content, spam, security issues or other concerns.

We may review reports and take reasonable action where appropriate.

Depending on the circumstances, this may include:

  • correcting content;
  • removing content;
  • restricting content;
  • contacting the reporting user;
  • warning a user;
  • restricting an account;
  • suspending an account; or
  • taking no action where we reasonably determine that a report does not require it.

Submitting a report does not guarantee a particular outcome.

You must not knowingly misuse reporting tools to harass others or repeatedly submit false reports.

13. Journal entries, notes and sensitive information

Mazinga may provide private journal entries and free-text Notes fields for general training record keeping.

You choose what information you enter.

You should avoid entering information that is unnecessary for your training record, particularly detailed medical, financial, identification or other highly sensitive personal information.

Mazinga does not require detailed medical records, diagnoses or other health information in order to provide its normal training-planning, logging or journal functionality.

Because journal entries and Notes fields are free text, they could contain sensitive information if you choose to enter it.

14. Service availability

We aim to provide Mazinga with reasonable care and skill.

However, internet-based services cannot be guaranteed to operate without interruption.

Mazinga may occasionally be unavailable because of:

  • maintenance;
  • software updates;
  • infrastructure failures;
  • third-party service failures;
  • security incidents;
  • emergency maintenance; or
  • circumstances outside our reasonable control.

Where reasonably practicable, we will aim to minimise unnecessary disruption.

Unless we expressly state otherwise, Mazinga does not provide a guaranteed uptime or service-level commitment during the Open Beta.

You should not rely on Mazinga as the sole location for information that you cannot afford to lose.

Mazinga provides a self-service export of supported user data. The export is not a full replacement for your own backup arrangements: for example, it may not contain uploaded media files, all system/operational records or data that cannot be exported through the current tool. We encourage you to retain copies of information that is particularly important to you.

15. Open Beta

Mazinga is currently available as a free Open Beta (public beta), intended to be accessible internationally where legally and technically available. Features and accessibility can vary by location, and access from a country does not mean the service is tailored to that country's laws.

Open Beta means the service is still being tested and improved. Although we aim to provide a reliable experience, you may encounter bugs, errors, unexpected behaviour, interruptions or features that do not work as intended.

During the Open Beta period:

  • features and interfaces may change;
  • functionality may be added, changed, temporarily unavailable or removed;
  • performance and reliability may vary; and
  • we may make changes based on user feedback.

We welcome feedback and reports of bugs or technical problems. If you encounter a problem, please use Settings → Report a problem when signed in to Mazinga, or email support@mazinga.app if you cannot access the application. Where possible, describe what happened and how to reproduce it. Please do not include passwords or unnecessary sensitive personal information in a report.

Being a beta service does not remove any statutory rights you have under applicable consumer law.

If a change materially affects your rights or the core service you have agreed to use, we will provide appropriate notice where required.

16. Changes to Mazinga

We may update Mazinga from time to time.

We may make changes to:

  • features;
  • user interfaces;
  • exercise libraries;
  • security systems;
  • technical infrastructure; and
  • other aspects of the service.

We may make changes without advance notice where they are minor, beneficial, required for security, necessary to fix defects or required by law.

If we make a material change that significantly disadvantages existing users, we will provide reasonable notice where appropriate.

We will not rely on this section to make arbitrary changes that deprive you of rights you have under applicable law.

17. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms where reasonably necessary, including because:

  • Mazinga's features change;
  • our business model changes;
  • applicable laws or regulations change;
  • we introduce new services;
  • security requirements change; or
  • the existing Terms need clarification.

The latest version will show its version number and effective date.

For minor changes that do not materially affect your rights, we may simply publish the updated Terms.

For material changes that affect the contractual relationship between you and Mazinga, we will provide reasonable notice and, where appropriate, ask you to accept the updated Terms before continuing to use the service.

Your previous agreement will not be treated as agreement to a materially different term where fresh agreement is legally required.

18. Ending your use of Mazinga

You may stop using Mazinga at any time.

You may also delete your account using the account-deletion functionality provided by Mazinga.

Account deletion is permanent once completed.

You should export or otherwise retain any information you wish to keep before deleting your account.

Our Privacy Notice explains what happens to personal information after account deletion, including information that may temporarily remain in backups or that we may be legally required to retain.

19. Suspension and termination by Mazinga

We may restrict, suspend or terminate access to Mazinga where we reasonably believe this is necessary because:

  • you have seriously or repeatedly breached these Terms;
  • your account is being used unlawfully;
  • your account presents a material security risk;
  • you have attempted to access other users' information;
  • you have deliberately interfered with the service;
  • we are required to do so by law; or
  • continuing to provide the account would expose Mazinga or other users to material harm.

Where the circumstances allow, we will generally try to provide notice and an opportunity to address the issue before permanently terminating an account.

We may act immediately where necessary to protect users, information, systems or legal rights.

Where reasonably possible and legally appropriate, we will allow you to retrieve your private data before a permanent account termination.

20. Discontinuing Mazinga

We may decide to discontinue Mazinga or a substantial part of the service.

If we discontinue the service, we will aim to give users reasonable advance notice where practicable.

Where reasonably possible, we will also provide an opportunity to export relevant user data before the service closes.

Nothing in this section affects rights you may have under applicable law.

21. Third-party services

Mazinga relies on third-party technology and services, which may include authentication, hosting, database, storage, email, error-monitoring and security providers.

Some features may also allow you to authenticate through a third-party account such as Google.

Your use of a third-party service may also be subject to that provider's own terms and privacy policies.

Mazinga is responsible for its own obligations to you but does not control the independent services, websites or products of unrelated third parties.

22. Our responsibility to you

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

If we fail to comply with these Terms, we are responsible for loss or damage that is a foreseeable result of our breach of these Terms or our failure to use reasonable care and skill.

Loss or damage is foreseeable if it was obvious that it would happen or if, when you agreed to these Terms, both you and Mazinga knew that it might happen.

We are not responsible for loss or damage that is not a foreseeable result of our breach or negligence.

If you use Mazinga as a consumer, we do not exclude or restrict liability for:

  • death or personal injury caused by our negligence;
  • fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
  • breach of rights that cannot lawfully be excluded; or
  • any other liability that applicable law does not permit us to exclude.

Mazinga is provided primarily for personal use. If you use it for commercial or business purposes without entering into separate business terms with us, we are not responsible for business losses such as loss of profit, revenue, business opportunity or business interruption except where the law requires otherwise.

Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory consumer rights.

23. Training-related injury and loss

Climbing, strength training, conditioning, flexibility work and other forms of physical training involve inherent risks.

Mazinga cannot assess your individual physical condition through ordinary use of the application and cannot guarantee that a particular exercise, load, intensity, grade, workout or plan is suitable for you.

We are not responsible merely because you experience an injury while carrying out training that you recorded, planned or viewed through Mazinga.

However, this does not exclude responsibility where an injury or other loss was foreseeably caused by our own negligence, breach of these Terms or another responsibility that the law does not allow us to exclude.

You remain responsible for applying reasonable judgement to your training and for seeking appropriate professional advice when needed.

24. Data loss

We take reasonable measures intended to protect user information and operate appropriate backup and recovery procedures.

However, no digital storage system is completely immune from failures.

Where loss of your data is directly caused by our failure to use reasonable care and skill, your legal rights are not affected by these Terms.

You should retain copies of information that is particularly important to you where Mazinga provides a reasonable way to do so.

25. Free service and future paid features

Mazinga is currently offered as a free Open Beta, unless we expressly tell you otherwise.

We will not begin charging you merely because you already have a Mazinga account.

If we introduce:

  • subscriptions;
  • paid plans;
  • premium features;
  • purchases; or
  • other charges,

we will clearly explain the applicable price and additional terms before you agree to purchase them.

Where your express agreement is required before a charge can be made, we will obtain it.

Paid services may require updated or additional terms.

26. Privacy

Our processing of personal information is governed by our Privacy Notice.

The Privacy Notice explains:

  • what information we collect;
  • why we use it;
  • our lawful bases;
  • who processes information on our behalf;
  • how long information is retained; and
  • your data-protection rights.

Agreeing to these Terms does not amount to consent to every type of personal-data processing described in the Privacy Notice. Where separate consent is legally required, we will request it separately.

27. Complaints and contacting us

If you have a problem with Mazinga, please contact:

Mazinga Climbing Ltd

Email: support@mazinga.app

Please provide enough information for us to understand the issue.

We will aim to investigate complaints fairly and respond within a reasonable period.

Nothing in this section prevents you from exercising any legal right or contacting an appropriate consumer-protection body.

28. If part of these Terms is unenforceable

Each section of these Terms operates separately. If a court or other competent authority decides that part of these Terms is unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining sections will continue to apply so far as legally possible.

29. No waiver

If we do not immediately enforce a right under these Terms, that does not necessarily mean we have given up that right. Similarly, if we allow additional time for you to comply with an obligation, we may still enforce that obligation later.

30. Transfer of these Terms

We may transfer our rights and obligations under these Terms to another organisation where, for example, Mazinga is reorganised, sold or transferred as part of our business. We will only do so where the transfer does not reduce your rights under these Terms or applicable law, and we will notify you where required. You may not transfer your Mazinga account to another person without our permission because accounts are personal to their registered users.

31. Rights of other people

These Terms are between you and Mazinga Climbing Ltd. Except where applicable law provides otherwise, no other person has a right to enforce these Terms merely because they benefit from them.

32. Governing law and courts

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer living in England or Wales, you can bring legal proceedings in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland, Northern Ireland or another jurisdiction, you may also have the right to bring proceedings in the courts where you live and may benefit from mandatory consumer protections that apply in your place of residence. Nothing in these Terms removes mandatory legal rights that apply to you.
